Health & Safety
Last updated: 23 July 2026
Combat sports are physical. That's the point. Our job is to make sure the risks are managed properly so you can train hard and go home in one piece. This page sets out how Warrior Combat Gym CIC does that.
Coaching and supervision
- Every class is led by a qualified coach. Nobody trains unsupervised.
- Coaches working with children hold enhanced DBS checks, as set out in our Safeguarding Policy.
- Coaches hold appropriate insurance for what they teach.
First aid and accidents
- First aid provision is in place at the gym and coaches know how to respond to an injury.
- Accidents and injuries are recorded, and for under-18s the parent or guardian is told.
- We hold an emergency contact for every member, taken at sign-up. Keep yours up to date.
Sparring and contact
- Sparring is always supervised, always matched sensibly by the coach, and always optional. Nobody is ever pushed into contact they haven't agreed to.
- Appropriate protective equipment is required for contact work.
- The coach's word is final. If they stop a round, it stops.
The gym itself
- Mats and equipment are checked and cleaned regularly.
- No outdoor shoes on the mats.
- Keep cuts covered, keep your kit clean, and tell a coach about anything that looks broken, damaged or unsafe. It gets taken out of use.
- Fire exits are marked. Keep them clear.
Your part
- Tell us about medical conditions or injuries that could affect you training safely. It stays confidential and it helps us look after you.
- Warm up properly, listen to your coach, and don't train through an injury without telling anyone.
Detailed risk assessments are held at the gym and reviewed regularly. Questions about anything on this page: info@warriorcombatgym.co.uk or 0151 476 0762.
