Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before stepping on the mats for the first time.
Getting Started
Do I need any martial arts experience to start?
No. The majority of our members started as complete beginners. Every class scales to your level and our coaches will guide you through the basics. Your first class is FREE, so you can come and try it before committing to anything.
Is the first class really free?
Yes — your first class is free with no obligation. There is also no joining fee. If you decide to carry on you can pay-as-you-go or join on a monthly membership.
What should I wear and bring to my first class?
Comfortable workout clothes (shorts or leggings and a t-shirt), a water bottle, and bare feet are fine for striking and grappling. We have gloves and pads you can borrow for your first session — bring your own once you decide to keep training. For BJJ a gi is preferred but not required for your first class.
Do I need to be fit before I start training?
No. The training will get you fit. Classes are designed so anyone can take part regardless of fitness level — you simply work at your own pace and the coaches keep an eye on you. Most new members notice big improvements in fitness within the first month.
How do I book my first class?
Check the class schedule, then just turn up about 10 minutes early to fill out a quick free-trial form. You can also message us on social media or via the Contact page if you would like to confirm first.
Classes & Training
What disciplines do you teach?
We run classes in MMA, Boxing, Muay Thai, Kick Boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) for adults, plus dedicated Kids and Junior Warriors classes for younger members. Members on a monthly plan can train in any discipline as often as they like.
Do you have classes for kids?
Yes — we run kids and junior classes covering striking and grappling fundamentals in a fun, safe environment. The classes build confidence, discipline and fitness. Get in touch and we will confirm the minimum age and the best class for your child.
Are women welcome at Warrior Combat Gym?
Absolutely. Our classes are mixed and welcoming to everyone. Many of our members are women, including total beginners and experienced fighters. You will be made to feel comfortable from the first session.
